Very few directors and business owners are active on Linkedin, but there is a good reason for this.
Most do what they are good at. And that usually means staying away from technology, social media or anything that doesn't involve their core business.
There are 334 million businesses in the World. Linkedin report that 67 million companies are on their platform (20.8%). They also report that only 16.2% use their platform daily. This means that under 11 million businesses worldwide use Linkedin regularly (just over 3%).
This is even lower when you consider that 5.7 million of users are job searching.
Or, if we take a look at 500 of our clients across the last 10 years, around 4-5 are on Linkedin. So, less than 1%.
That is a large percentage of potential clients that you will never be able to contact because you don't know they exist.
Some are not good with computers while others just don't like them. And most have absolutely no interest in social media whatsoever.
Most just want to go in to work, check everything is going well, then get back to the golf course, family, cycling, holidaying or whatever they do for the rest of the week.
So where do they get their business?
Some businesses have been running for years so are fairly well known, some have marketing departments and some have a niche market, but also in the case of our clients, they are high in the organic search results. And that means frequent enquiries which lead to business!
With over 3.5 billion Google searches in the UK per day, we only have to deliver a tiny amount of monthly searches to keep each of those businesses profitable and happy.
Working out how to get that tiny yet relative and important percentage of one in millions is an interesting, fun and rewarding job.
So, if you can grab a fraction of all monthly UK Google traffic, we probably won't be seeing you posting daily on social media anymore, unless you get bored while on the beach of Malta!
