Before you approach an SEO agency, it’s worth doing some basic homework.

There are two types of businesses for which SEO typically does not work.

Firstly, there are businesses that people are not searching for - full stop. Usually because their brand is not known and there is no current demand. These can include fashion wear, jewellery, vehicle and aircraft manufacturers whose brand is unknown. In these cases, we usually recommend building their brand on social media, TV or trade shows first.

Secondly, there are those that simply do not have a marketing budget that includes the internet. In this instance we will suggest fairs, networking and social media and to include an internet marketing plan in their next year’s financials.

So, what businesses does SEO work for?

Thankfully, there are hundreds of businesses where SEO works extremely well. These include plumbers, electricians, builders, solicitors, accountants, IT support, dentists, nurseries – basically anything where people are looking for products and services they regularly use or buy, usually local to them.

Bearing in mind there are 3.5 billion Google searches in the UK every day, it is important to make sure your product or service falls within a percentage of these searches from the outset. 

There may only be 100 searches for your services every month, but if you are top of the page, and you get one new client every month out of the internet, it will make a massive difference to the success of your business.
